Indie Apple-platform studio ยท since 2025

Small, sharp apps that mind their own business.

An indie studio building native Apple tools, focused on niche problem solving with first-ever solutions. Zero existing alternatives: We pull these concepts directly from the Void~ No telemetry. No tracking. We ship a lot, answer every email, and still think the terminal is beautiful.

Why trust the void

Boring promises we actually keep.

We did some genuine firsts

The first true symlink manager on macOS. The first real data-carving app on iOS. Live screen translation on the Mac. The first search that spans your entire manpath. Speech-to-text auto-typing with no models to download. And AppVoid, which has no competitor to be compared against. Not marketing "firsts" โ€” actual ones.

Nothing phones home

No analytics, no trackers, no "anonymous usage data." Most apps run fully offline. If one needs the network, it's for an obvious reason, every individual endpoint and domain, is for an obvious reason and the reason is never for us.

Native, not a webpage in a trench coat

Every app is built natively for Apple's platforms. Fast, small, and properly at home on your Mac or iPhone โ€” not a browser wearing a costume.

One human, fully accountable

It's just me. I read every message, fix what's broken, and put my name on all of it. Complaints go to a real inbox that I actually read โ€” unfortunately.

The firsts

Things that literally didn't exist before.

Not a flex so much as a symptom. Every "first" here started with me hitting something oddly specific, going looking for the fix, and finding that nobody had bothered โ€” which says as much about how I use a computer as it does about the software.

Symlinks

Create, repair and manage symbolic links in a real GUI. Offload huge files to external drives, build lndir-style mirror folders, and let broken links quietly fix themselves.

Resurface

Data carving on a phone. Resurface skips the file system and reads raw bytes to recover photos, videos and documents by their signatures โ€” fully offline, nothing uploaded.

Live screen translation

translated

An overlay reads your screen and re-renders it translated in real time โ€” plus speech-to-text and type-to-translate. Offline, zero telemetry, on Apple's own language packs.

Field note

How a feature actually gets born

I could not remember the rclone subcommand. I knew the man page contained the word listremotes โ€” I just couldn't recall what the command was called, and there is no good way to search man pages by flag. So ManPage got full-text search across your whole manual archive and highlighting that persists, so the next person who forgets only forgets once.

Most of these apps exist because I ran into something exactly that specific and declined to accept "just scroll" as an answer.

The unglamorous part

Everything in the catalog ships sandboxed, through the App Store

That's a deliberate choice and it costs months. ManPage could have shipped far sooner if I'd released outside of the App Store, for many reasons, dancing around in the sandbox for approximately 2 additional months to achieve similar functionality inside the sandbox.  Every app here got that same tuning.

The exception

Two apps ship outside the store, and I'll tell you exactly why

Leaving the App Store isn't a shortcut I take when sandboxing gets annoying โ€” it's what happens when the store makes the app impossible. Twice so far. Both times the reason fits in a sentence, so here are the sentences.

DragDealer Can't be sandboxed

Move and resize any window with the keyboard and mouse movement alone โ€” hold right โŒ˜ and move the mouse to drag a window, hold left โŒ˜ to resize it. No clicking, no aiming at a title bar or a 4-pixel corner. Reaching into other apps' windows means the Accessibility API, and the sandbox does not hand that out. So it can't be a store app โ€” not because I didn't do the work.

LabsFX Sandboxed anyway

A native client for Google Labs FX. This one is fully sandboxed โ€” the sandbox was never the obstacle. It simply isn't allowed on the store, for reasons that have nothing to do with what it can touch on your Mac. Same binary, same entitlements, different door.

For the record

"Direct downloads are more professional" is not an answer.

This is the useful distinction when anyone hands you a download link: the sandbox can't grant what this app does is a real answer. Policy said no is a real answer. The shortcut is to hand you a notarized installer and describe it as professional. If an app could be sandboxed and isn't, that's a fair question to ask, and when the sales pitch leads with not being an anonymous developer rather than with the software, that's worth noticing too.

XScribe is sandboxed, always offline, and free forever โ€” not 'free while in early access' โ€” and it pastes straight into other apps without accessibility permissions. A copy that asks for more permissions to do less is not the professional one.
